Staal's gap control, wing span, and physicality vs Crosby's hockey IQ, raw speed, and lightning agility in tight spaces.
Great matchup. Two guys who are amongst the best at what they do. |

the worst part about jordan going to the new failers is he makes his brother, eric, look like he's special needs.

My wife, who held a long and not so secret crush on Jordan Staal during his time here upon learning that he had turned down the Penguins offer of a long term contract and basically forced Shero to trade him:
"He's dead to me"
Yep, that pretty much sums it up honey. |

The only difference is: you're a man
Edit: Low scoring game 3-2 Pens! |

I still like Jordan Staal a lot. He was one of my favorite pens. He didn't bail on Pitt for money, he simply wanted a bigger role and to play with his bro. It's not like Parise. |

Parise wanted to play in Minnesota, where he was born and raised. + his wife got a job there (or something like that). It's pretty close to the Staal situation but less honorable for the cams and media. I don't blame him. |

I said this in the last thread love Jordy and what he did for us no hard feelings for leaving, but he's on the opposing team so I hope he ends up on his wallet and gets abused by Sid. I hope it's 8-2 pens |

Well of course haha. I do have him in a fantasy league, so hopefully those 2 points are from him |

Agreed.
How could he turn down the chance to be a #2 center and play on the same team as his brother?
He knew Ray would try to work that out if he could and there's no way he wanted to stay a #3 for another 5 years (or whatever the offer was).

Even though they play different positions, If I were Bylsma, I'd have Bortuzzo and Despres watching film on how Staal used his reach and frame to play defensively. He isn't a hitter, but he is so good at leaning on guys and using his reach to separate players from the puck. |

The Canes are icing an AHL worthy blueline right now due to injuries Joe Corvo is there #1 d-man at the moment, and they have been playing with one emergency recall from the OHL for the last week. The kid, Ryan Murray (#7) has played well, but they are struggling in general on the back end. This is exactly the type of situation the Penguins should be able to exploit. |

I agree. I mean he knows he's better than a #3 center and he's been doing much more than just PK and a shut down role in Car. It's a similar situation to our defenseman. Lovejoy isn't going to be a healthy scratch every night when he's a consistent starter on 20 other teams. Just have to let them go and wish them the best |

Interesting, but this game could go on all day. Scouting 17 year olds and drafting 18 year olds is always a crap shoot. For example:
1990
1st Round Owen Nolan (1st)
1st Round Mike Ricci (4th)
1st Round Jaromir Jagr (5th)
I know not that much difference in pick numbers and Nolan and Ricci were solid performs. That was back when Craig Patrick told risks that paid off. |

I always refer to this as the "Thank you Philadelphia for drafting Mike Ricci and not future hall-of-famer Jaromir Jagr draft" That one decision swung the balance of power in the Patrick Division towards the Penguins for a decade. Thank you Bobby Clarke! |

At least neither of those teams took Scott Scissons lol
Calgary taking Trevor Kidd ahead of Brodeur was solid as well lol |
